Deportivo Alavés became the first finalist of the XLI San Ginés Tournament, after defeating Universidad de Las Palmas 0-2. The team led by Tino Luis Cabrera offered a good image, especially in the first half, but ended up succumbing to the physical power of the Basque team. Alavés scored both goals in the second half

During the first part of the match, the only team that wanted to play the ball was Universidad de Las Palmas. The team from Gran Canaria moved the ball better in the center of the field, and on most occasions they encountered strong pressure from the Basque team.

The first dangerous approach from Universidad de Las Palmas occurred in the 25th minute. A cross from Ángel Sánchez from the right wing was headed by Alberto Hernández and his header, too crossed, went licking one of the posts. Minutes before, Ángel Sánchez executed a free kick from the edge of the area that went into Montero's hands.

Deportivo Alavés was not feeling comfortable on the field at all. He couldn't find his place and on most occasions he abused long displacements. Universidad was more forceful on the synthetic turf of the Ciudad Deportiva Lanzarote.

The best chance of the first half occurred in the 32nd minute. Cristo Martín was about to take advantage of a failure of the Alavés defense. Mesquita tried to head the ball to his goalkeeper, Cristo Martín intercepted the pass and, alone against Montero, sent the ball directly out.

Just four minutes later, a free kick from the left vertex executed by Ángel Sánchez was headed by Ojeda at the far post and the ball went out by very little. With the dominance of Universidad de Las Palmas against Deportivo Alavés, the first half came to an end.

Deportivo Alavés' image improved in the second half of the match. Javier Pereira's instructions at halftime gave results and the Basque players were more comfortable on the field. Even for a good part of the second half they were the dominators of the situation.

Alavés would take the lead in the 61st minute. Good attacking play by Alavés on the right wing, with a fluid ball circulation, with the forward Geni being in charge of culminating the play, sending the ball into the back of the net.

A goal that knocked out the ideas of Universidad de Las Palmas, a team that was more thick in this second half. In addition, Alavés showed great physical preparation. The team from Vitoria suffocated the Universidad de Las Palmas' midfield with their pressure. The entry of Gustavo García oxygenated the game of Universidad.

The only clear chance for the university team in the second half occurred in the 75th minute. Gustavo García was in charge of executing a free kick from the left vertex, not finding a finisher inside the area. Alavés was unsuccessful in defending set pieces.

The sentence came in the 92nd minute of the match. After a good combination inside the area, an interior pass allows Reguero to be alone against Santi Lampón and beat the Universidad goalkeeper from below. There was no time for more, reaching the end of the match with the result of 0-2. Alavés becomes the first finalist
