The Basic Dictionary of Canarianisms, by the Canarian Academy of Language, defines the word "sereto" as "A box made of slats, with a mouth wider than the base, intended for packing fruit, mainly tomatoes for export." It is found in the eastern province of the Archipelago (Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and Gran Canaria). In the islands of Tenerife and La Gomera, the form "sereta" is used with the same meaning.
