A son of Lanzarote, Juan Ferrer Perdomo, passed away in Madrid on September 18, 2025.

He completed his studies on the island and later moved to Madrid to study Naval Engineering, starting to work in a shipyard in Setúbal (Portugal).

Later he returned to Lanzarote to manage the island's first desalination plant, as head of production at the Water Consortium. In recent years he was assigned to Madrid, at the company Babcock & Wilcox, where he was appointed head of desalination projects worldwide, one of his last destinations being the large plant in the Atacama Desert, in Chile.

He leaves us with a beautiful memory of his time in life. Among his many qualities, his simplicity, integrity and humanity towards those who knew him stood out. Not long ago, he opened the doors of his home to welcome a Ukrainian family fleeing the war.

We remember him with special affection. I, his sister-in-law, keep in my memory the years of his student days. We express our deepest condolences to his wife, Mila, and to his children, so that they may keep in their hearts the living memory of an exceptional man with whom they shared their lives.
