Experts in demagoguery and misrepresentation. Prophets of the new century who believe they possess the absolute truth. Speeches that are authentic dogmas of faith. Gurus who take advantage of any excuse to shoot with spite against the Popular Party, without rhyme or reason, in a crude attempt to cover up their incoherence and political shamelessness.

It is the PSOE: visionaries one day, amnesiacs others. As appropriate.

They had been holed up in their winter quarters for months, hoping to go unnoticed and waiting for citizens to forget the role they played in the last legislature and the subsequent electoral punishment. Now they are beginning to come out, aware that there are too many issues at stake and, above all, because what they are doing at the head of public institutions is not in tune with what they think, thought or, at least, with what they have been selling to citizens for more than a decade.

We are talking about the territory, the urban planning problems and the supplementary plan for Yaiza that has been drawn up by the Government of the Canary Islands itself, formed by the PSOE and CC. We are talking about Inalsa, the creditors' meeting, saving those who have their assets under a preventive embargo and privatizing the management of the integral water cycle in Lanzarote and on the island of La Graciosa. We are talking about the Tourist Centers, about privatizing the restoration proposed by a president of the Cabildo who is the same one who took his general secretary to court for the disastrous management he carried out at the head of the CACT, which he left with losses of more than three million euros.

With so much submission to the Canarian Coalition and so much ideological incoherence, it is normal that the socialists' headquarters has become at times a real cauldron of boiling water. And perhaps that is why, to please those who internally question them that the PSOE is supporting the privatization of the management of Inalsa and the Tourist Centers, renouncing its particular way of understanding the staunch defense of the public, which is why they have come out en masse to lash out against the Popular Party with their hackneyed proclamations.

Once again, they return to the recurring discourse of demonizing the Popular Party, accusing us of being far from the true public interests and the defense of the general interest.

In the case of Tías, I wonder what some leaders and public officials of the PSOE understand by defending the general interest, especially those who have had this concept parked in a drawer, or who knows where, and have now decided to take it for a walk.

I also wonder what some historical socialists call not lifting a finger, when that is precisely what they know best how to do because they practiced it daily. Or perhaps they meant that not lifting a finger is to govern a municipality for thirty years - a short period of time - and that they did not have time to receive even the existing partial plans, except for one? One, as an exception to the general rule.

Although some would describe it as a simple deal, that way of working of the PSOE in Tías, which Mr. Gutiérrez recently boasted about publicly, is what has cost all the residents of our municipality some 3,500,000 euros. That is the amount that, due to the negligence of the socialists in not appealing, the City Council has had to pay for a plot of 600 square meters whose expropriation price was initially set at 2.6 million euros. That is not lifting a finger and there are more examples like this.

They also talk and talk about the need to defend the general interest with respect to the territory. Of course, that's all there is to it! But in everything, not only for what suits us, because the only thing certain is that some people's mouths are full of talk about the general interest when, due to their trajectory, they have made it clear that it is a concept that is too big for them. What's more, before using it they would have to think about it not only once, or twice, or three times..., but a few more times, since those who have to give explanations to the citizens are those who have pulled the strings of this island for decades and this, despite who it may concern, does not correspond to the Popular Party.

The point is that now that they are in the opposition it is very easy for them to demand that what they were incapable of doing in fifteen years be done in a year and a half of work. However, this amnesiac discourse from a party, the PSOE, which thought that the Mayor's Office was a lifetime seat and that the day would never come when the residents of Tías would realize their deception and, with the legitimacy given by the polls, would put them in the place that corresponds to them precisely, for not defending the general interest and for not lifting a finger... They were wrong.
