It won't be for famous Manolos. Those of the "friends forever" of Barcelona 92; the one whose car was stolen, with the last name Escobar; or the ill-fated Manolo Tena, whose hit "with the ladder and thirteen, better not tempt fate. If someone is wearing yellow... knock on wood." I hum too often.
It comes to mind when something goes wrong, when something goes wrong. Knocking on wood tells us, and if there isn't any, to tap our heads, because you never know how "furnished" it might be.
Such is its positive effect, that I recommend the Government of Teguise to resort to it, before announcing a new work, service or promise. Surely it will help things change and fortune smile.
Before announcing a new contract for the improvement of the Municipality's gardens, knock on wood; if they want to rehabilitate the Paseo de Las Cucharas after a lustrum and several attempts, knock on wood; or if it is about the Teleclub de La Graciosa, after years of waiting, yes, knock on wood, tananá tananá.
Because praying is better left for more personal matters, out of respect and to do the divinity a favor, no matter how much the bell of the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe rings.
Who knows if, remembering Tena, they would not have avoided, for example, the last setback in the rehabilitation of the pirates' dwelling in the Castle of Santa Bárbara, there on the Guanapay volcano. Works suspended for eight months.
Look how we show our concern as the main opposition party in Teguise, in a reasonable tone, without alarmism, but aware that more than 600,000 euros are financed by the Ministry of Development charged to the 1.5% cultural Program.
Look, when tourism is reactivated we need the doors of one of the main attractions of the Royal and Most Illustrious Villa de Teguise to be open, as a passionate of our historical heritage and Municipality always reminds me.
And for all this we asked in full months ago. And as eight months of suspension of the works are many, even more so with the precedents to which the current government of Teguise has accustomed us, we urged an appearance, from which a new verse arose for Tena's theme: "There is a difference in the mortar, it seems that they are corrected. We are waiting for that mortar to arrive, which arrives these days."
Well, nothing at all for the moment, and we are already eight months of paralysis, the works without starting, the scaffolding in the open and the bad luck that continues in Teguise with the various works, services or promises.
Meanwhile, it sounds once again in Teguise "if a black cat crosses... if you pass under the ladder... Knock on wood...", or was it knock on mortar?
