Democrat Bill Clinton with his famous "It's the economy, stupid!", won the election against Bush and became President of the United States. Of course, I prefer another of the messages that allowed opening the windows of the White House: "change or more of the same".
And do you know why? Because it fits perfectly with what we are playing for in Teguise in May 2019. Either continue with the comfortable government of CC or promote the impulse that Teguise needs after four years full of excuses.
Because it is not bad luck that has prevented us from having the best maritime avenue on the island in Costa Teguise, fixing the Nazaret road to the Complex or expanding the number of municipal nurseries, "it is the lack of management, Oswaldo".
Nor is it the bureaucracy, "burrocracy" as the current Mayor likes to say, that prevented the Music School classes from starting last October, the visor of the Campo de Los Molinos or the contracts for the main supplies of the City Council, "it is the absence of foresight, neighbors".
As it is not the inheritance in the form of debt from other times that prevents undertaking the investments that the towns and payments of Teguise deserve, surpassing those made then by Dimas, "it is the lack of ambition, Teguise".
Because this mandate that comes to an end, with a Government of 12 councilors and the same acronym as the government of the Cabildo and the Canary Islands, should have been full of successes, but unfortunately, and it must be said, in Teguise they settled after an absolute majority and the aspirations of who today speaks more of the Parliament than of the Corporation that he presides.
But all this is not forever. In May we have the opportunity to change things and that, among others, we bet on transparency without the possibility of hiding information; we facilitate the participation of the neighbors in the decision making; or we get the worn-out excuses, when something does not go well, to go down in history.
I know it is possible, for which I will ask for the trust of the neighbors of the Municipality, regardless of their preferences in the past, telling them that Oswaldo and his team already had eight years to improve Teguise and it is time for change, to move from promises to facts, to do more and better things in La Villa.
I invite you to join, "it's time, Teguise".
Surely in these days of Carnival we will have the opportunity to share it. Happy rest.
By Marcos Bergaz, Candidate for the PSOE to the Mayoralty of Teguise
