It has its merit Amancio

Some things are clear to me. It is not easy to be Amancio Ortega, creator of the Inditex group, with his well-known Zara. Nor is it easy to attend to the millions of tourists who I hope will visit Lanzarote this year. Much less for a company, whether it is a restaurant, hotel, communication or car rental company, to survive several generations.

The merit is extraordinary. Even more so in a globalized, changing world that requires constant fine-tuning. An imperative update to satisfy the needs of customers, administrators or tourists. Lanzarote's business community and the island itself have been aware of this in recent decades and also today.

A new example is the pioneering initiative "Unit for promoting and boosting transformative projects for the island of Lanzarote" of the Lanzarote Business Circle, which was announced at the Castillo de San José last Thursday.

An initiative that deserves an opportunity because it is a tool at the service of those who are committed to adding value to Lanzarote and the activities that take place there.

The proposal will undoubtedly support innovation in essential aspects such as R&D&I, mobility, job creation, green, technology, customer service, etc. And it will help the development of ideas that current entrepreneurs, new entrepreneurs and administrations intend to implement.

Even more so when approaching it, you can see that it is a thoughtful, solid proposal with a vocation for the future and necessary. Even more necessary given the great opportunity that we as an island and society have with the recovery funds that the European Union is allocating to overcome the crisis caused by the pandemic.

A challenge in which the private and public sectors, business and administrations must give the best of ourselves. This is how it should be and will be in order to take advantage of this opportunity that is presented to us.

And no, it is not easy to be Amancio Ortega, or to attend to the tourists who visit us, or for a company to overcome the second generation, but with effort, talent and tools like the one presented to us by the Círculo, it is easier.
