Do you know what Kike Pérez, Jon Kortajarena, Orlando Duque, or Zapatero have in common? Famara conquered them, like most of us who have enjoyed such a special place in our Municipality. The place where, probably, the best beach on the island is located, with the imposing Risco as a witness.
A unique space that does not need to change, but it does need to be better cared for, and it is possible. Because Famara doesn't only exist in the summer, but all year round it requires care and attention, as the residents demand, as we commit to carrying out from equipoTeguise2019. Therefore, continuing with our positive campaign, I will take advantage of these lines to contribute a series of proposals.
Thus, I will start with the entrance to paradise, where we need the roundabout in front of the Complex to be dressed with a tribute to all the Caleteros, to the natural space in which they live, and to the environmental values they represent. What better for this than an ideas competition where artists captivated by Famara make their proposals and the neighbors are heard? Because citizen participation must also reach Teguise.
Maintain the access road to both the town and the Norwegians in good condition, talking to Costas so that they understand that its current state harms everyone, with a calamitous asphalt, with potholes and live gravel that only makes it look bad, discomforts, and transfers the loose gravel to the dune area. I already took steps at the time and rehabilitation was possible, then they let it die in the trunk of memories.
Reinforce services on the beach such as surveillance to avoid episodes that no one wants; its cleaning that cannot depend exclusively on volunteer actions; or accessibility, because Famara, including the town's beach, must be for everyone, facilitating the enjoyment of those with reduced mobility.
Recover properties such as the house of the illustrious Don Luis Ramírez González, preventing saltpeter and disuse from ending this modernist sample on the Caleta beachfront; or the mill with its washing basins, true icons of Famara that have been waiting too many years for an action that does not arrive.
Bet on the differentiation of the town, in which its magic lies, enabling subsidy lines so that the signage, signage, or terraces are recognized in all the Facebooks and Instagrams of the world.
Pay tribute to César Manrique for his centenary by incorporating Manriquean winks in the area of the pier in the form of tiles that represent some of the most iconic elements of our brilliant artist, such as his little fish, known throughout the world. Because César's bare feet often enjoyed Famara and it is necessary to leave his mark where he was so many times.
Knowing that when talking about its parties, less is more in Famara, not returning to the nonsense of yesteryear where the City Council aspired every summer to exceed the number of visitors with the problems that this conception of the Caletera party generated, later exported to the White Night in La Villa. On this issue, the neighbors must star in the design of their parties and the Corporation help in their realization, because we also have committed neighbors.
And I insist, keep in mind that Famara does not have to be changed, but rather better cared for so that the neighbors do not feel that they are only present in the summer. Famara demands attention every month, in the basics, but also in activities and programming to avoid "the temptations of boredom" as they told me in a meeting.
I tell you yes, that neither "bicycles are only for the summer", as the playwright and actor Fernando Fernán Gómez wrote, nor can Famara be on the agenda only when the heat tightens in this land.
Together we will make it possible.
