The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, confirms that the southern City Council presented this Monday to the Parliament of the Canary Islands and to all the political groups represented in the autonomous hemicycle four amendments to the Budgets of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands to execute municipal initiatives worth 8.6 million euros that the local Administration considers a priority, one of them, the interior sanitation of the population center of Yaiza, valued at 4.5 million euros and with a project already drafted.
Yaiza also demands via amendments 1.4 million euros for the day center and family respite to be built in the tourist town of Playa Blanca, 746,000 euros for the rehabilitation of the Benito Pérez Armas House of Culture and 1.8 million for the construction of the new library and socio-cultural center in Playa Blanca, an initiative that not only has a basic project, but the City Council already put out to public tender last October the drafting of the execution project
The mayor of Yaiza argues that "we are fulfilling our obligation to defend the interests of the municipality and we hope that the Government will be consistent with these projects that are sufficiently argued".
Regarding the project of the day center and family respite in Playa Blanca, it is an urgent need for which the City Council already has public land for its construction. "The population of Playa Blanca has grown due to tourism development, many of its residents work in the sector and it is increasingly difficult to reconcile work obligations with the care of the elderly and dependents, so this project responds to demands for social welfare, equality and family".
The mayor confirms that "after my meeting with Casimiro Curbelo, one of the partners of the Government of the Canary Islands, the Department of Social Welfare has decided to integrate this project into the III Socio-health Plan in process, although we have also registered this amendment".
In relation to the sanitation of the town of Yaiza, the objective is to enable quality control over the wastewater generated by the different uses with an environmental project that has an execution period of twelve months.
On the other hand, the 746,000 euros to undertake a good part of the rehabilitation and conditioning of the House of Culture are more than justified, it is the first cultural center of the municipality and needs improvements in the building, "it is a powerful and comprehensive intervention in the building to improve ceilings and its entire structure, update its equipment and make it fully accessible with the approval of Heritage".
