The Yaiza City Council has created a special unit to help and advise farmers, ranchers or others affected by Tropical Storm Delta who reside in southern Lanzarote.
Especially, this office will advise on the procedures to be followed so that the affected farmers can regenerate their damaged farms. Those other citizens who have unfortunately seen their homes, businesses or industries damaged must channel their claims through the Insurance Consortium that covers these catastrophic damages.
To collaborate in these administrative procedures, the Institution chaired by José Francisco Reyes has organized an informative meeting that will take place on Tuesday, December 20 at 6 p.m. in the San Isidro Labrador Cultural Center, in Uga with the presence of technicians from the Yaiza City Council and the Cabildo of Lanzarote.
The mayor of Yaiza, José Francisco Reyes, and the councilors of Environment and Agriculture and Livestock, respectively, José Antonio Rodríguez and Pedro Viñoly, will also be present at this meeting.
According to the first mayor of Yaiza, José Francisco Reyes, the desire is to make available to these farmers the necessary mechanisms to alleviate the damage in the Vegas de Uga, Yaiza, Temuime and Femés, in addition to the unique Paraje de La Geria. It was planned for today that the Cotmac would agree to the request for the exceptional extraction of rofe (picón) for agricultural farms.
