Yaiza Civil Protection presented this Monday afternoon two new vehicles, which have been delivered by different entities. The Mayor of Yaiza, Ángel Domínguez, the Security and Emergency Councilor of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Francisco Guzmán, the Security and Emergency Councilor, José Lemes, representatives of the Security and Emergency Consortium and the company Endesa, and managers and volunteers of Yaiza Civil Protection were present at the delivery ceremony.
The vehicles presented to society this Monday are a Toyota Hi-lux, with four-wheel drive, equipped with rescue equipment, donated by the company Endesa, and a Mercedes Sprinter van, with capacity for nine passengers and equipped with sanitary material, donated by the Security and Emergency Consortium.
At the end of the event, the Yaiza City Council presented two plaques in gratitude to the companies that donated the cars.
Fleet
The Yaiza Civil Protection corps began operating in 1994. It currently consists of twenty-five volunteers. The vehicles now donated join a fleet consisting of four cars, three trucks, including a pump, two motorcycles and two trailers, one for underwater rescues and a second for pumping tasks in floods.
Last year, Yaiza Civil Protection carried out a total of 360 services, including preventive, rescue and emergency operations.
