Playa del Reducto has been closed for over two months due to episodes of fecal contamination, a situation that the PSOE of Arrecife considers unsustainable and "a serious damage to the city's image". The party denounces that, while the main urban beach remains closed, the municipal government "continues to focus on parties and waste".

Socialist councilwoman Cristina Duque emphasizes that it is incomprehensible that the governing group does not prioritize the recovery of the coastline: "It seems incredible that we have to remind them that around El Reducto is the **city's main hotel complex** and the postcard that tourists and residents see." In this regard, she criticizes the inconsistency between the official discourse and the reality of the beach: "They fill their mouths with quality tourism, while filling the beach with black, foul-smelling water."From the PSOE, they state they are addressing this problem responsibly, in contrast to what they consider a lack of attention from the City Council. "Those responsible—or irresponsible—for governing Arrecife only think about parties and waste, while they don't solve the city's real problems," laments Duque, who adds: "It's unacceptable to spend millions of euros on parties this Christmas while they don't bother to keep a beach clean that today is a disgrace to our city."

The party demands a serious diagnosis and an immediate solution to the dumping. Duque maintains that the municipality is in a state of neglect: "We all know that the Water Consortium is only thinking about the new millionaire contract. A new windfall for the usual suspects to be happy. But who is thinking about El Reducto beach? Nobody."

Finally, the socialists demand that the City Council provide clear and urgent information about the planned actions to improve the state of the coastline and the city as a whole. "Yonathan de León should know that tourists visit our island for its natural attractions, not to waste money on lights and parties," states Duque.
