Somos Lanzarote, through its spokesperson in the Arrecife City Council, Borja Rubio, has described it as a "disgrace" that the Arrecife government group has not convened "in more than six months" the working table on the General Plan to which "it had committed" after its unanimous approval in the Municipal Plenary at the proposal of Somos. "The draft of the PGO arrived at the Consistory in January of this year and since then we are waiting for the municipal convocation of the body," the party points out.
"Arrecife has grown a lot in recent decades and its urban planning is more necessary than ever. Most documents in relation to heritage, or the planning of the city are obsolete, and the results are becoming increasingly visible. This legislature, which was key to at least starting the path of the organization of the city, will become a lost mandate, wasted by the negligence and apathy of the PSOE-PIL" says Borja Rubio.
Somos Lanzarote considers that "the government group of PSOE and PIL are demonstrating that they have no commitment to the urban planning of the city" and urge the mayor of Arrecife, Eva de Anta, to convene "urgently" the working table. In the opinion of Somos Lanzarote, the planning of the city "is a debate that must begin to take place in this mandate" and, therefore, they demand the convocation of the body destined for it "in the next few days".
"Eva de Anta must convene the working table of the General Plan now. The PSOE-PIL government is paralyzed while important problems such as the urban development of the city continue to be unattended. The situation is unsustainable, Arrecife cannot throw another legislature in the trash in terms of its organization" concludes Borja Rubio.
