The pressure measures have not had the effect they expected, that is why they have decided to take a further step in the face of the deadlock in negotiations between the union representatives of the Tourist Centers workers and the EPEL management over the collective agreement. This Monday the General Assembly of workers agreed to present a strike notice, which they could start within ten days, from when they communicate it to the company.
Héctor Noda, union representative at the negotiating table, assures that the workers are "tired". In addition, he has stated that he does not understand why the Minister of Tourism, Pedro San Ginés, has started an explanatory round on the negotiations of the agreement throughout the Tourist Centers if "he has sent thousands of internal notes to the workers, where he has explained the same thing that we have explained".
The strike could be avoided if the EPEL management decided to sit down to negotiate, "but not as it has been done previously", clarifies Héctor Noda, because "we would not want to reach this extreme but the workers have asked us to continue forward". For the moment, they are not going to back down on this decision that, according to the unions, has been unanimously supported by the 70 workers who attended the Assembly.
