Tinajo will monitor victims of gender violence in order to take appropriate protection measures. The mayor, Jesús Machín, signed a collaboration agreement last Friday with the island director of the Government Delegation, Juan Ramón Borges, so that the Local Police and the Civil Guard of Tinajo can carry out this monitoring through the Comprehensive System of Gender Violence cases (VIOGEN).

"From today our municipality has taken a great step in the fight against gender violence and in the protection of the victims who suffer it. The Local Police is the closest body for the residents and that they can have data to assess the risk of the victims and act if necessary is very positive for these women. That proximity can be fundamental to carry out a timely action,” Machín stressed.

The meeting was also attended by the Councilor for Security and Emergencies, Yurena Cubas, the head of the Local Police of Tinajo, Eduardo Ferrer, the captain of the command of the Civil Guard of Costa Teguise, Armando Fernández, the lieutenant of the Civil Guard of San Bartolomé, Ismael García, and Margarita Bello, head of the Women's Violence Unit of the Island Directorate.

“It is our obligation to put all the necessary means for the protection of women who suffer abuse every day. Thanks to this agreement, the security forces and bodies will follow the victims very closely, preventing them from feeling isolated,” concluded the Councilor for Security and Emergencies, Yurena Cubas.
