Tías will award this Tuesday the concession of the cleaning and gardening service to the company Fomento Construcciones y Contratas

The Tías City Council will definitively award this Tuesday in plenary session the concession of cleaning and gardening services to the company Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas. In this way, "a long and tumultuous road" of this service in the municipality will be closed, as the government group has stated through a statement.

Thus, it has recalled that since 1981, these services have been provided by the company Salimpa. In the last decade, the service had been awarded "without public tender and by extension, agreed anomalously by the previous government group", as revealed by an opinion of the Canary Islands Advisory Council.

"The contract has been subject to successive vicissitudes regarding the revision of prices, expansion of services and transfer of the contract to Salimpa., S.L., whose sole administrator is Camilo Álvarez, which was authorized by agreement of the plenary session of July 18, 1995", according to the report. This transfer to that new company, being José Juan Cruz Saavedra already mayor, was made "without prior public tender, as determined by law".

The current government group terminated the contract with Salimpa in January 2011, after having the service kidnapped, and initiated in November the new public tender for the award of cleaning in Tías. Currently, and after the administrative process, we are waiting for the signing with the new concessionaire of these services.

The workers will be subrogated

The 62 workers of Salimpa will be subrogated from this Tuesday to the company Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas, according to the specifications of the public tender. The employees have been collecting directly from the Tías City Council in recent months with the company kidnapped and intervened. According to their collective agreement, which was denounced last autumn by this current government group, they should be paid "always before the 5th of each month".

This month of April, the Tías City Council has explained that it entered the payroll on the 8th and on April 9, the workers carried out "a sit-in and did not collect the garbage", alleging "that they had not collected their salaries". For this Monday, May 6, they had called an indefinite strike, which has been called off, since the City Council will finally pay about 250,000 euros that these 62 workers claimed as CPI for the years 2011 and 2012, plus the days of free disposal.

"It has been our government group that has had to assume another contract plagued with irregularities. Those who governed in the past legislature, what they have left in addition to garbage, is another type of waste", denounced the Councilor for Cleaning, Francisco Javier Aparicio.
