The Tías City Council has processed this week different transfer orders of nominated subsidies to six groups that develop projects in the municipal district of Tías. The transfers, paid with own funds, amount to 63,000 euros. In the coming months, the remaining subsidies will continue to be deposited, which will be added to those transferred in the first semester of the year.
The mayor, José Juan Cruz, and the first deputy mayor and councilor for Social Services, Nicolás Saavedra, emphasize the council's commitment to improving the state of social welfare based on the exercise of public function for a better redistribution of resources. The Tías City Council subsidizes dozens of groups that "provide a valuable service to citizens".
This block of nominated subsidies, which are subject to the execution of defined projects and the approval of the original invoices and the supporting statement of expenses incurred, includes the associations El Cribo, Asperger, Disabled of Lanzarote, Lánzate LGTBI, Spanish Association against Cancer and Tinguafaya.
The mental health association El Cribo will receive 9,000 euros for giving talks to promote community well-being, the Asperger Islas Canarias association will receive 5,000 euros for the execution of the project "Breaking barriers-Accessible Tías 2023" and the NGO Tinguafaya will receive 9,000 euros for the project called "Facilitate my enjoyment-Leisure and free time and family respite 2023".
In addition, the Association of Disabled People of Lanzarote executes the project of action and provision of support to people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities or at risk with a subsidy of 20,000 euros, the association Lánzate LGTBI Canarias develops the service of care and support to the LGTBI+ community and their families Conecta Arcoiris with 10,000 euros and the Spanish Association against Cancer receives 10,000 euros for its psychosocial care to cancer patients and their families in Lanzarote and La Graciosa.
