The Tías City Council has ordered this week the transfer payment of 78,387.50 euros corresponding to the “social emergency aid to students based in the municipality of Tías, academic year 2024-2025”, so dozens of young people will receive the corresponding deposit in their bank accounts on those days.
These scholarships represent a considerable relief for families in the municipal area with children studying at different levels, since these extraordinary aids are intended for university students outside and within Lanzarote, for students of intermediate and higher-level training cycles that cannot be taken on the island and for those enrolled in non-face-to-face education.
The Tías City Council opened the deadline last October for the submission of applications, publishing the bases with the requirements of the call and the corresponding annexes on its notice board. Applicants had 30 business days to submit the required documentation.
The minimum amount received by university students studying outside the island amounts to 1,000 euros and these scholarships are compatible with other subsidies and aid from other organizations or institutions.
As in previous years, both the academic excellence of the student and the social and economic situation of the family are valued, taking into account the reports prepared by the Social Welfare area. In fact, this procedure is a joint work of the Social Welfare, Education and Economy areas.
