Next October 1 will begin the resurfacing works of the second phase of the Avenida de las Playas in Puerto del Carmen, in the section between Pedro Barba and César Manrique streets, according to the City Council. The other section, between César Manrique road and the Los Fariones aparthotel, was already executed in the spring of 2016.
The City Council has awarded the works to the company Lanzagrava for an amount of 237,181.74 euros, to which the IGIC must be added, raising the investment to more than 253,000 euros. The work was put out to tender at the end of last January and the government group has planned for its execution to take place during this autumn, after the summer season, "to minimize the impact on road traffic in the main artery of the largest tourist area of Lanzarote". The construction company has three months to complete the works according to the administrative specifications.
The action on the seafront of Puerto del Carmen will require, in advance, that the successful company proceed to lift the current asphalt pavement of the avenue to compact all its subsoil, which has registered "in recent years different breakdowns due to the breakage of water pipes", and proceed to all resurfacing between the intersections of Pedro Barba and César Manrique streets, areas between the Casino de Lanzarote and the Tourist Office. The City Council has already notified the companies in the public transport sector (buses and taxis) of the planned start of these works for this coming October 1.
The mayor of Tías, Pancho Hernández, recalled that this work is included in the Municipal Investment Plan 2017/2019 for the improvement of public spaces in Puerto del Carmen and the center of Tías. Currently, the Contracting Office of the City Council is processing the tender and award of the work of the Plaza de Las Naciones, with an investment of around 600,000 euros, and other works and investments that are in the process of being sent to the Public Sector Contracting Platform for its official tender.
