The Tías City Council continues with its campaign of removal of abandoned vehicles in public roads in coordination with the Local Police and an authorized scrapyard. To the 14 cars removed at the beginning of the year, another 17 transferred last March and April are added.

The transfer of vehicles to a scrapyard company is carried out after remaining parked for more than a month with damage and signs of abandonment and after the corresponding administrative procedures have been completed, which includes sending a request to the owner.

These months six cars were moved in Mácher, two on Togio street (Puerto del Carmen), two on Terrero street (Tías), one on each of Montaña Ubigue (Tías), Tajinaste (Tías), La Luchada (Tías), Capellanía (Puerto del Carmen), Agrupación Gaida (Puerto del Carmen), Rambla Islas Canarias (Puerto del Carmen) and one in the Tías cemetery area.

At the beginning of the year, interventions were carried out on Peña del Asiento road, El Mesón road, Los Olivos road, Ángel Guerra street, Pío XII street, Violeta del Teide street, the cemetery area, Rambla Islas Canarias, Juan Carlos I street, Alegranza street, Agrupación Gaida, Ancla and Rociega.

From the local administration, after verifying the state of the vehicle, a request is sent to the owner so that they have the possibility to voluntarily remove it. After the period of one month from the notification of the request, the City Council orders the transfer of the car to an authorized vehicle treatment center for its destruction and decontamination.

The removal of abandoned vehicles on the road leads to an improvement of public spaces, safety, and environmental conservation, as these are sources of pollution containing oils, batteries, brake fluids, and other toxic components.
