Handover ceremony at the Tenerife Arts Space

The award ceremony took place this Tuesday at the Tenerife Espacio de las Artes (TEA) center in a session that brought together students, teachers, and authors in a participatory meeting that culminates the work developed throughout the course in the island's educational centers.

In this edition, 175 students and 25 teachers from secondary schools have participated, who have been part of the reading committees responsible for selecting the winning work, as reported by the Cabildo de Tenerife in a statement.

Likewise, the finalist works are announced through ‘Palabras Filmadas’, another project within the Insular Program for Encouraging Reading and Study Techniques with 4th year ESO students.

The Azagal Award culminates an annual process in which young people read, analyze, and debate works of young adult literature, to finally choose the winning novel after a direct encounter with its authors.

During the event held at the TEA, participants attended meetings with the finalist authors, facilitated activities, and the final vote, which determined the winning work, in addition to two honorable mentions, which went to "TerraDraga," by Arden Montag; and "Intruso," by David Lozano.

The program includes initiatives such as reading committees and the Azagal Library, thus consolidating itself as one of the most innovative proposals in the educational and cultural field in Spain, according to the Cabildo de Tenerife.
