The workers of the company Insercorsa, in charge of cleaning, maintenance and waste collection in Costa Teguise plan to start an indefinite strike from next Monday, July 11, due to delays in the payment of wages, according to Intersindical Canaria in a statement. The strike will affect the entire staff and all work shifts.
According to a statement, "the company has been delaying the payment of wages for several months, failing to comply with the agreed dates and being paid on the 17th or 20th." In fact, Intersindical Canaria assures that "the salary corresponding to May has been collected on June 20."
Therefore, they have decided to consider the strike notice, in order to ensure the payment of the salary corresponding to the next month that, according to the agreement, should be "at the beginning of the month".
Intersindical Canaria explains that it has been decided to establish July 11 as the start date of the strike, since on July 6 and 7 they have a judicial appointment with Insercorsa "for several breaches of the agreement, given the company's refusal to reach agreements before the Canarian Labor Court or correct the errors or part of them, before the judicial act"
According to them, on April 7 a conciliation was held before the Canarian Labor Court, in which the company appeared without reaching any agreement, although "verbally stating that they were unaware of the claim with sufficient time in advance", but promising that "it would be corrected before the judicial act".
Breaches of the agreement
However, Intersindical Canaria assures that in this time the only thing the company has done is increase "the breaches". In this sense, they point out that the payment of salary in the current month is not being fulfilled, as well as occupational safety and risk prevention, with "collection trucks in poor condition, lack of supplies, work tools and uniforms, and lack of periodic monitoring of the state of health based on risks inherent in the work, such as vaccines".
Likewise, the union affirms that "the company has suppressed the correlative payments of union fees, deducted by payroll to some workers and not paid to Intersindical Canaria, being the amount owed of 776 euros".
Finally, the union organization considers that the agreement is also breached in that the representatives are not informed of the changes made by the company. In this sense, Intersindical Canaria points out that there was no "notification about the subrogation of Caseur to Insercorsa and understands that being a service of which the City Council is a partner, like the UCCT, "a seizure should have been made for breach of contract, if it exists", since Intersindical Canaria assures that it has been requested from both parties and "nothing has been delivered by the company".
"On the part of the City Council, in the last legislature a meeting was held in which they communicated that there is no program contract, since it is the responsibility of the UCCT, and on the part of the UCCT, they respond in writing that they cannot provide said documentation under the Data Protection Law", adds the union, which understands that "if a service is public, the document is public".
For all this, Intersindical Canaria expresses its "discomfort and disagreement" before "the neglect of the company and of the administration and association itself", understanding "that so many hands are not necessary for said service". "The UCCT pays the company Insercorsa and the City Council contributes to the UCCT. Too many responsible for such poor management. The workers of Insercorsa comply with our work and only ask that the company comply", they conclude.
