The Delta storm that devastated countless infrastructures throughout the Canary Archipelago last night, including the Island of Volcanoes, has subsided early this Tuesday, leaving significant damage.
The Puerto de los Mármoles in Arrecife suffered serious damage throughout the night, as reported to LA VOZ by the Port Authority of Las Palmas.
The two maritime stations, both Los Mármoles and the ferry terminal, have been flooded by water, suffering broken glass, so that they are unusable today. At this time, port workers are cleaning the area and removing the damage.
As reported by the Port Authority, several fences of the enclosure have been destroyed, as well as other street furniture, such as doors and windows.
Also, the defenses of the Port have been seriously damaged. Port technicians also estimate that there may be a fracture in the breakwater, although it is not yet confirmed.
Also, a breakwater has disappeared, the one at the end of the Mármoles dock.
Likewise, several small boats that were in the dock are sunk or semi-sunk.
However, at no time this Tuesday has the activity of the port been canceled and the ships have continued to enter and leave the docks as planned. As the Port Authority assured, "any ship can enter and leave the Island."
Airport
On the other hand, according to AENA, all Canary airports are currently open, although cancellations have been registered in Tenerife North and no flight has yet operated.
Fog and wind are hindering operations at this airport, which, so far, has canceled the seven scheduled arrivals and ten departures, although it is open to air traffic.
The situation at this airport has caused delays in the rest of the Canary airports, including Guasimeta, which are returning to normal after the weather conditions improve.
