The Lanzarote Council's Road Service, under the Department of Public Works, has intensified cleaning and conditioning work on the island roads after the heavy rains last Saturday, April 12.
“Throughout Saturday, and throughout the week, we will continue to carry out cleaning, sweeping and removal of mud and dirt from the roads to guarantee safety and smooth transit throughout the island,” said the Councilor for Public Works, Jacobo Medina, who was present at the different incidents that occurred over the weekend.
Medina detailed that “the main incidents occurred on the road that connects Arrecife and Tahíche, on the one that connects with Caleta de Famara and on the Los Arcos road, in addition to the ascent to San Bartolomé from Arrecife, which had to be closed on Saturday because one of the bridges was flooded.”
Faced with this situation, the councilor assured that different companies with heavy machinery have been contracted "exceptionally" to be able to "speed up the work, in addition to increasing the personnel to be able to have the roads ready as soon as possible."
The Department of Public Works of the Cabildo de Lanzarote asks drivers to exercise caution while work continues on the roads, respecting the provisional signs and detours that may occur.
