The PSOE of Teguise criticizes that the government group "renounces" new employment funds

"It never rains but it pours, as we already criticized in November that the municipal government did not participate in the 'ordinary' PFAE call", says Jenifer Galaén, socialist councilor

The PSOE of Teguise, through a press release, criticizes this Friday the Government formed by Coalición Canaria (CC), Partido Popular (PP) and the former Vox councilor for "renouncing" new employment funds for the development of training projects in alternation with employment (PFAE) aimed, on this occasion, at the youngest unemployed people, in a call resolved this December 19 by the Canarian Employment Service.

"Stop renouncing employment funds", with these words the socialist councilor, Jenifer Galán, addresses the Government of Teguise, "after not having presented a single project to the PFAE Youth Guarantee call", financed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy and the Canarian Employment Service itself with more than 23 million euros.

A call that subsidizes each of the 62 selected projects from all over the Canary Islands with 371,152.27 euros, among which there is again none from Teguise, "because they did not present a single project to this call, despite our continuous initiatives to do so", laments Galán.

"It never rains but it pours, as we already criticized in November that the Government of Teguise did not participate in the 'ordinary' PFAE call, which allowed municipalities such as San Bartolomé, Tías or Yaiza to be awarded 4, 3 and 3 projects respectively; and now, they reoffend with the PFAE Youth Guarantee", remarks the councilor.

"All this while the municipality, - recalls Galán - has 893 people in a situation of unemployment, of which 46.80% are under 45 years old, this call being aimed at young unemployed people to carry out works or services of public utility or social interest for eleven months in the municipality and benefiting 15 student workers per project that combines work with training".

"If in the ordinary PFAE call San Bartolomé, Tías and Yaiza, obtained funds to implement these projects that generate job opportunities; on this occasion, it is San Bartolomé and Arrecife, with the common denominator, to the misfortune of the unemployed people in Teguise, that our municipality does not appear among the winners in either one or the other call", points out the young socialist councilor.

"As we feared and predicted, continues Galán, the municipal government continues to let opportunities pass by, whether in terms of employment; of updating the general plan, as they were left out of a call to obtain resources for this purpose; or of investments, with the return of economic funds after being unable to spend them in years, as in the case of the improvement of the Costa Teguise tourist office and the reimbursement of 150,000 euros to the Canary Islands tourism department".

Finally, from the socialist ranks they hope that with the new year changes will come to Teguise and La Graciosa "such as betting once and for all on this type of employment projects, as other municipalities similar to ours do and that allow to train and employ in areas such as agriculture, sociocultural services and to the community, environment or renewable energies to the unemployed people of the municipality".
