The spokesperson for the PSOE in Haría, Alfredo Villalba, has responded to the accusations of the mayor, Evelia García. "The indignation is mutual," he stated this Tuesday on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero's morning show. Last Friday, the Platform of the Municipality of Haría, the governing group, reproached the councilors of the Canarian Coalition, Compromiso por Haría, and the PSOE for having voted against the budget modification to carry out at least a dozen works in the municipality.
"We have a list of works, some coincide and others do not," explained the socialist. The opposition voted against the municipal Executive's initiative to modify a budget up to 600,000 euros with the aim of using that money to fix walls or the sinkhole in Punta Mujeres, among other actions.
"We have been warning you for a very long time that things are agreed upon," the councilor reproached on the radio program. "When they were left in those minorities, we told them that we were not going to go through that type of totally dictatorial treatment," Villalba stated.
The Platform of the Municipality of Haría has been governing in minority for a year, so it cannot carry out any initiative without the support of the opposition groups. "In democracy, fortunately, you have to have half plus one to be able to carry out certain projects," the socialist recalled on the radio program.
In this line, he insisted that bringing a list with a dozen works to be done to the plenary two months before the elections "is bringing their list of the Three Wise Men." "We are totally upset with the initiatives that this governing group, with only three councilors, intends to achieve without any kind of consensus," he showed his surprise during the radio program Buenos días, Lanzarote.
In addition, he stressed that since her arrival to power, the mayor has not awarded "a single work, has not tendered a single work within the Contracting Platform."
On the other hand, the mayor also reproached the opposition for not having carried out the appointment of the photographer Javier Reyes as Favorite Son of the municipality. Meanwhile, the PSOE in Haría insists that she has used that initiative for "electoral" purposes. "The only thing we intended is that any reform of this magnitude should be taken to the plenary or that an agreement is reached before it," he concluded.
