"Since we discovered the payment of more than 20 million euros, Echedey Eugenio has been trying to sabotage the Ginory Investigation Commission, even going so far as to place himself outside the law that governs the City Council." That is what the PSOE councilor Cristina Duque, who had been asked by CC to appear in the Plenary, stated this Wednesday.
“The appearance requested by Coalición Canaria is against the law, both the ROF (Regulation of Organization and Functions of a public entity), the Canary Law of Municipalities, and the Regulation of the Arrecife City Council. And it is that in the laws that govern the municipality of Arrecife, and all the municipalities of Spain, it is contemplated that the appearances have to be made by the members of the Government Group and not the members of the opposition”, they point out from the PSOE in a statement.
"Pretending that I go to an appearance to explain why Echedey and Astrid paid more than 20 million euros last December 31 is not only absurd, but goes against the laws that govern Spanish city councils," added Duque, who affirms that Coalición Canaria “must understand what the functions of the opposition are, which is none other than to supervise the government, and that the plenary is the body in which that control of the government takes place.”
From the PSOE of Arrecife they point out that “it is not understood how someone like Echedey, who has spent his entire life in public institutions, does not know something as basic as the functioning of the plenary of a City Council”. "In the end, it is a great smokescreen to try to divert the main issue, which is the barbarity of money they paid secretly, without caring about even skipping municipal laws," the socialist spokesperson asserts.
Cristina Duque affirms that she hopes that Coalición Canaria “will not boycott the investigation commission any more, the place where all information must be provided”, and in which she assures that she plans to “collaborate to clarify the Ginory case.”
