Coalición Canaria has responded to the latest criticisms from the PSOE announcing that it will request the appearance in the Plenary of the socialist councilor Cristina Duque, who until last November held the Finance area and is currently in the opposition, "so that she explains the change in her party's position regarding the payment of the Ginory land". In this regard, she recalls that the Socialist Party voted in favor of requesting that loan of 27 million euros in the Plenary held in April 2021, as well as in the Governing Board in which the economic conditions of that loan were approved.
Therefore, CC affirms that "the criticisms of the former Finance councilor to the payment of the debt are not understood now", when "the PSOE, while it was in the government until scarcely a month ago, supported the payment plan".
"If anyone voted in favor of the corporation's budget that included the loan, the conditions of the loan, that it be paid through a loan when there was already a payment plan approved by the court, it was Alfredo Mendoza and Cristina Duque, both in the plenary sessions and in the governing boards”, questioned the spokesperson for CC, Echedey Eugenio, against whom Duque had charged for allowing that payment now that he is part of the government group.
"They are not going to find a single document, nor a record of a Governing Board, nor of a plenary session of the Arrecife City Council, where a single member of Coalición Canaria has voted in favor of requesting a loan, indebting the City Council to pay for the Ginory land. They are not going to find it simply because there is none. Because the PSOE councilors, before leaving in December, left this prepared so that it could be paid. They know that this is the case and that what remained pending was the signature of the mayor, who is the one who has the powers to give the payment order for the loan that they requested. That is the only reality of Ginory,” Eugenio stated.
Asks for explanations about the "mysterious document" that has now appeared
The nationalist Group will also request that Duque "explain the reason why, from the Finance Area that she has directed until November 2021, the expert report supposedly carried out by order of the Arrecife City Council has not been incorporated into the file, whose drafting dates back to 2012, and which warned of discrepancies between the data provided by the property and those reflected in the municipal cadastre; despite having knowledge of it at least since 2019".
“They talk about new evidence and take out a document from 2012, which they did not even deliver to the plenary but to another group in the opposition. A document that dates back 10 years. Where was that document when the socialist mayors Eva De Anta and José Montelongo governed, when Cristina Duque was councilor for Finance or Alfredo Mendoza was deputy mayor?”, asks the spokesperson for CC.
“We want Mrs. Duque to explain to us why that document was not in the municipal file, who gave it to her, how she obtained it, and who paid for that document,” added Echedey Eugenio.
In addition, the nationalist spokesperson has stressed "the economic significance" of the compensation, "since we are talking about 20 million euros that belong to the citizens of Arrecife and it is difficult to understand that if that document is so important and clarifying as the Socialist Party states, why it was not sent to the court before there was a final judgment so that the court would reconsider its position”.
Finally, from the Nationalist Group in the Arrecife City Council they affirm that "whoever has governed Arrecife for the last 30 years uninterruptedly and has been present in all municipal governments for three decades has been the PSOE", and they ask themselves "why in all this time no one from that party has said anything regarding the mysterious document and they do it now, only three weeks after leaving the government”.
