The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, received this past Thursday the staff, the technical body and managers of the Unión Deportiva de Lanzarote on the occasion of their next promotion play off match against UD Villa de Santa Brígida.
"As she has regularly done with the teams and athletes of Lanzarote and La Graciosa who are fighting to achieve new challenges, the president of the Cabildo has received the members of the staff, technical body and managers of the Unión Deportiva Lanzarote", the corporation said in a statement.
The Minister of Sports, Alfredo Mendoza, also attended the event, who during the reception held in the assembly hall of the island corporation congratulated the members of the team and the entity for the recent runner-up of Tercera Federación, obtained "a few days ago". And also encourage them before the tie that will be settled on Sunday.
“That second place in the League, being only surpassed by the champion CD Mensajero, has made it possible for them to fight to try to be in the Second RFEF category; and for that return of the tie, where you have to come back, we wish you the best of luck”, commented María Dolores Corujo.
For his part, Alfredo Mendoza congratulated them “for the excellent season that, whatever happens, UD Lanzarote has starred in, as well as US Yaiza in their objectives... But now, more than ever, I would ask the Lanzarote fans for unanimous support to massively attend the match on Sunday at the Ciudad Deportiva de Lanzarote, where I am sure that the 1-0 first leg will be overcome against UD Santa Brígida”, Mendoza noted.
The atmosphere among the red team seems full of morale to try to overcome this first obstacle on their way to the Second Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). From the Cabildo de Lanzarote they have wished them luck in this new football challenge.
