The PP will urge the Arrecife City Council to modify the regulations for granting subsidies to sports schools

For the Popular Party "the City Council must collaborate with sports clubs to promote grassroots sports with programs and subsidies appropriate to their demands and needs, with special attention to indigenous sports, in this case collaborating with the promotion of the Municipal School of Canarian Wrestling of Arrecife."

According to the populars, in these sports clubs, "many people carry out an altruistic work that comes to replace the aforementioned municipal competence, and established by law". Therefore, the Popular Party considers that the clubs "have very scarce resources, so the collaboration of the City Council is essential for it to be developed with the proper level of quality".

Thus, the Popular Party of Arrecife will submit to the Plenary's consideration the approval of agreements to modify the bases for granting subsidies to sports schools. Thus, it proposes establishing a final amount for the payment of monitors of municipal sports schools that comply with the provisions of the aforementioned bases, increasing the line of support for the provision of the necessary sports equipment. Specifically, the City Council would directly assume the expenses of recording uniforms, establishing a contract with a specialized company. In addition, the populars propose to precisely establish the conditions and requirements to be entitled to the measures proposed above and to establish a special coefficient for indigenous sports schools.

In addition, in order to be able to attend to the proposed modifications, the populars believe it is necessary that the item destined for subsidies to sports schools be increased to the amount of 300,000 euros in the budget for the year 2008.
