The Popular Party of Tías questions "the lack of leadership and negotiation capacity" of the municipal government when managing with Puertos Canarios the free disposition of the parking space, which is traditionally enabled in the area of the slipway for the installation of the fairground and the celebration of the Fiestas del Carmen in La Tiñosa.
The populars denounce the reduction of "almost 30% of the space that is usually dedicated to the attractions and the stalls", which in their opinion "is detrimental to the economic activity that is generated around the festivities and also for the attendees themselves who will find less leisure offer than in previous years".
The councilor of the Popular Party and president of the local committee, Francisco Aparicio, points out that this "is the result of the bad negotiation that has been carried out by the government of José Juan Cruz, since Puertos Canarios has ended up winning the game by reserving a very important part of the esplanade".
"As it is a specific moment of the year, the objective is that while the festivities last, the maximum possible space can be available so that the festivities are more attractive," explains Aparicio, who considers that "this year it was also essential to enable 100% of the slipway area", in view of the high participation and attendance of the public that are being registered in the local festivities of practically all the municipalities of the island.
The Popular Party has already announced that they will request the appearance of the mayor in the next municipal plenary session to explain the reason for these works and the reasons why they have not waited for the festivities to conclude for their execution. Likewise, the PP wants to know "if Puertos Canarios has presented any project to the City Council to execute works in the parking lot and surrounding areas".
