The Popular Party of Arrecife has requested the municipal government group and the Security Board to fence off most of the route through which the Great Cavalcade of Kings will pass in order to make it "a safer cavalcade for all".
The PP has explained that this is a preventive measure based on security criteria, in order to avoid such unfortunate events as the one that occurred, for example, in Malaga last year, where a six-year-old boy died after being run over while looking for sweets under a float.
"It is more than proven that this initiative is positive in order to guarantee the correct functioning of the cavalcade, while also avoiding delays in the arrival of the Three Wise Men from the East", the PP has defended.
"We believe that this is a demand from parents that will contribute to all of us enjoying the cavalcade with much more peace of mind and where the boys and girls of Arrecife and Lanzarote will be able to collect the coveted sweets in total safety", said Joel Delgado, spokesperson for the Popular Party of Arrecife.
"We are talking about a non-restrictive but preventive measure, since by fencing off the route we will be able to meet all the objectives of a fun and safe cavalcade in which no type of accident or delay occurs", the councillor pointed out.
