The Popular Party of Lanzarote has asked the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, this Wednesday not to spend his holidays on the island this year, because it maintains that he is "not welcome nor worthy" of it.
In a statement, the leader of the populars in Lanzarote (and president of the Parliament of the Canary Islands), Astrid Pérez, urges Sánchez to call elections this summer, "give the word to the Spanish people" and "go home", instead of spending a few days of rest in Costa Teguise with his family, as he usually does every year.
"A president who does not dare to go out on the street, who suspends his public agenda to flee from the media, who avoids participating in institutional events because his mere presence contaminates... Nobody wants him and they don't even defend him in his own party. We don't want him here either, he's useless," says Pérez.
The populars describe Pedro Sánchez as "a president persecuted by corruption" and assure that, under these conditions, "Lanzarote cannot be his refuge."
"He is not welcome nor worthy of this island. It is a matter of political hygiene and respect for the people of Lanzarote," says the president of the PP on the island.
