The Popular Party of Lanzarote has presented an amendment of 80,000 euros to the Draft Budget of the Autonomous Community for 2025 destined to the drafting of projects of the Master Plan established for the management of water in the municipality of Arrecife and to avoid the floods that continue to be registered in some points of the capital in the face of especially intense rains.
The objective, says the president of the PP of Lanzarote, Astrid Pérez, is that the plan does not suffer stoppages and that the actions can be executed progressively. “It is useless to budget millionaire amounts if the projects are not previously drafted and that is where we believe that it is necessary to influence these accounts that, in addition to social, are above all realistic.”
“In recent years, as mayor, I have witnessed first-hand the floods and drainage problems that Arrecife has due to the lack of investment. We are very aware of the damages that this causes to the residents and the city, so for us putting an end to and solving the problem of rainwater is still a priority,” she says.
After the City Council tendered the first two lots of the master plan, with an approximate investment of 3 million euros, the proposed budget allocation for the next year will allow drafting the construction projects of phases 3 and 4 that the municipal government foresees.
In addition to the management of rainwater, Astrid Pérez has announced a second amendment of another 80,000 euros destined to the drafting of the project to expand the dock of the Polytechnic Institute of Maritime Fisheries Vocational Training of the Canary Islands, also known as the Fishing School.
A center that, the president emphasizes, “has 77 years of experience, is a national benchmark and is equipped to teach a total of six vocational training cycles, three higher degrees and three intermediate degrees, in addition to offering twenty professional courses approved by the International Maritime Organization, which guarantees a quality education.”
The expansion of the dock will not only improve the facilities, but will also contribute to the future development of new training opportunities in the maritime field for future generations.
