This Thursday, the new conditions and measures affecting regular passenger transport in Lanzarote, that is, intercity buses, will come into effect, as reported by the Cabildo of Lanzarote.

The new measures mainly affect the conditions of the 'Canarian Resident Bonus' (BRC) and several bus lines that will "improve their services to meet the demands of citizens," they highlight. Likewise, the Cabildo also announces that from this Thursday the "new information and bonus processing office" will be operational at the Playa Blanca Bus Station.

The president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, has congratulated the team of the Transportation Area for "complying with the demands of users of the island network, and modernizing the public service" in accordance with the objectives set in the 'Island Transportation and Mobility Plan of Lanzarote 2024-2031', which revolves around four axes based on "sustainability, efficiency, inclusion and the reduction of accidents".

"It is important that every decision that is made and every step that is taken in this matter, results in the quality of the service and the improvement in the attention to the citizens from north to south of the island, always encouraging the consumption of public transport that helps to reduce CO2 emissions and mitigate the environmental impact", Betancort considered.

As explained by the Minister of Transport and Mobility, Domingo Cejas, and as La Voz advanced, "the Canarian Resident Bonus will have new conditions such as the realization of 15 quarterly trips to guarantee the gratuity of the users of this type of bonus. In addition, the presentation of the certificate of registration will be determined for this bonus upon the acquisition of the bonus or in case of needing to reactivate said bonus for not having made the 15 quarterly trips".

Likewise, line 22, which connects Arrecife with the César Manrique Airport, will operate from 05.30 hours to 23.30 hours every 40 minutes from Monday to Friday and will begin from this Thursday, February 1, to "make a route that will include the Avenida Marítima de Arrecife and the Vía Medular, passing through the Bus Station".

"This will allow the center of Arrecife and the neighboring neighborhoods with the route to transfer to the airport without having to make a transfer", the Minister of Transport stressed, who explained that "the passage of this line through the Bus Station will also facilitate that with a single transfer you can connect with the airport from locations such as Tinajo, Teguise, Órzola or Haría".

Open the new office of Playa Blanca

The Cabildo has also reported that the concessionaire company of intercity transport 'Intercity Bus' will open this Thursday a new information and bonus processing office, located in the Playa Blanca Bus Station. This office, which joins the existing ones in the Arrecife Bus Station and the Arrecife Interchange, will remain open from Monday to Friday, from 9.00 hours to 17.00 hours.

On the other hand, the buses of line 30 (Urbana Playa Blanca) will have a payment system, without contact, as a test. This means that users will be able to pay, from now on, with a credit card. The intention is to incorporate this payment system "progressively" throughout the island transport network.
