César Manrique's wind toys also suffered the inclemencies of the Delta. Eight months later, the one in Montaña Blanca returns to its original position, completely repaired. Santiago Hernández, a loyal collaborator of César Manrique, has been in charge of supervising this operation, in which the wind toy has been provided with a central axis of greater resistance and 24 bearings that provide greater support.
In addition to its repair and painting, the César Manrique Foundation plans to cover the base of the wind toy with stone soon to complete the artist's original project.
According to Sergio Machín, Councilor for Public Works of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, another of the damaged mobiles, the one located in the roundabout of the César Manrique Foundation, will be installed in September. In addition, there is a planned trip to Germany, in which Manrique will be honored. "To mark the tenth anniversary of the location of one of the mobiles in Berlin, we plan to travel there, in collaboration with the Berlin municipal authorities," explained Machín.
