The Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa has approved an increase of 50,000 euros in the funds allocated to the call for subsidies under a competitive bidding system for the maintenance, conservation, restoration, rehabilitation, and reconstruction of immovable properties that are part of the Cultural Heritage of the Canary Islands.
With this supplementary economic injection, the total budget allocated for the year 2026 stands at 250,000 euros.
The measure, adopted by the Insular Council and formalized through the CEO Miguel Ángel Jiménez Cabrera, is funded by the budget item designated for actions related to historical heritage.
These grants are exclusively aimed at financing interventions in privately owned properties located in Lanzarote and La Graciosa. These include constructions cataloged in the insular or municipal inventories, properties declared of Cultural Interest (BIC) or in the process of being declared, as well as those buildings that, without a formal degree of cataloging, possess accredited heritage values according to the Canary Islands Cultural Heritage Law.
Public administrations, foundations, and civil or religious entities are excluded from the call.
As stated in the official announcement published in the Official Provincial Gazette, this supplement responds to the provisions of the regulatory bases, which included the possibility of increasing the available credit without the need to process a new public call if the initial allocation was insufficient compared to the volume of applications submitted.
For this reason, the Cabildo has specified that the budgetary increase will be used to cover the files already registered during the ordinary process, without opening a new submission period for new applicants.
