The Manrique and Matallana families have donated to the Digital Memory of Lanzarote a photographic legacy of the island, dating from the 19th and 20th centuries. These two collections of Lanzarote's photographic heritage can be seen on Thursday, at 8:30 p.m., at the Arrecife Nautical Club, where these images will be presented.

The event has a novel format compared to others organized by [www.memoriadelanzarote.com->www.memoriadelanzarote.com], since it will feature the presence of members of these families. The purpose is to share and highlight the social value of the photographic and cultural legacy that is being digitized and disseminated through this portal of the Cabildo.

Carlos Manrique Cabrera and Juana Manrique Cabrera will comment on a selection of their family's photographs, which include urban and rural landscapes of different spaces on the island, scenes of popular festivals or images of well-known figures such as their brother César Manrique.

For his part, Juan Francisco Matallana, son of Alfredo Matallana, one of the greatest experts in genealogy on this island, will comment on a collection that stands out for its aesthetic and documentary value and that offers one of the best examples of photographic portraiture of the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Digital Memory of Lanzarote is a documentation service of the Cabildo of Lanzarote that is offered to digitize any material related to the history of the island free of charge, as they have stated through a statement. "The development of this digital library is being possible thanks to the collaboration of organizations and people who, in many cases, cede their funds so that all citizens have access to it", they have highlighted.

Currently, the website of Digital Memory of Lanzarote has almost 7,000 images and more than 4,000 data, texts, audios and books about the history of Lanzarote. The councilor Joaquín Caraballo, who directs the Data Center area, will be present at the event this Thursday.
