The strike called for today by the labor personnel attached to the Canarian Public Administration has had an impact of 21%, according to the data available to the Government of the Canary Islands.
The General Director of Public Function, Juan Manuel Santana, recalls in a statement that he maintains the proposal for salary improvements made to the Strike Committee of the labor personnel, and whose cost will amount to 5,558,386.18 euros.
The offer includes not only specific salary increases for the most disadvantaged groups of workers, but also improvements in the working conditions of the personnel of the Ministry of Education, a process of officialization and upward modifications of the current social conditions.
Specifically, the Government of the Canary Islands has offered to establish, for groups IV and V, an incentive supplement that will mean an increase of more than 280 euros in 2006 and almost 400 in 2007 for groups IV and V with placement in the previous one and 188 and 306, respectively, for group V. The execution of this specific proposal will generate a cost of 2,712,060.77 euros.
Officialization process
Likewise, the General Director of Public Function proposed to the Strike Committee an officialization process, which will allow the personnel of this modality to modify their labor situation and develop a professional career that has an impact on the improvement of their remuneration, as well as the modification of the Operational Employment Plan, the withdrawal of article 22.1 of the Preliminary Draft Law on Education in the Canary Islands and a whole series of improvements in social conditions that would affect all workers in the Autonomous Community.
Breaking down the monitoring data of this strike day by areas, Environment and Planning is the one with the highest incidence, with just over 43%, followed by Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, with 29%. It is followed by Infrastructure, Transport and Housing, with 25%, and Economy and Finance, with just over 24%. Employment and Social Affairs also accounts for about 24%, followed by the Ministries of Industry, Commerce and New Technologies, with 21%, Education, Culture and Sports, with about 20%, and Health, with more than 18%. The Presidency of the Government, with about 16%, the Presidency and Justice, with just over 13% and Tourism, with 7%, are the ones with the lowest incidence of the strike.
