The Government of the Canary Islands subsidizes rural tourism actions with 877,724 euros

Young people and women will be given priority in order to fix the population and the use of renewable energies or the adoption of soft technologies.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food of the Government of the Canary Islands has decided to grant a set of subsidies, amounting to 877,724 euros, which will favor the development of tourist activities related to agricultural holdings, contributing to the recovery of 32 traditional architecture constructions and the creation of more than a hundred new accommodation places.

Following the publication of the Order of February 10, 2005, which announced the subsidies for tourist activities related to agricultural holdings in the midlands of the Canary Islands for the current year, the general directorate of Agrarian Structures received a total of 86 applications and, after proceeding to the analysis of the files, 32 applications were approved, which contemplate the global investment of 2,366,127, 32 euros.

The Ministry has considered as eligible expenses the costs of material execution of the rehabilitation of the building, excluding the industrial profit and general expenses, the investments for the adaptation of the exteriors and the expenses derived from the remuneration of technicians.

The subsidy granted to the petitioners covers 40 percent of the approved investment, with a maximum of 40,400 euros per file, informs in a statement the Government of the Canary Islands, which details that the subsidies are granted on the basis of the co-financing of the EU, in 75 percent, through the EAGGF-O, and will be delivered in two annuities: 447,164.14 euros this year and 430,560 in 2006.
