The Cabildo of Lanzarote has put out to tender the works of the project called "Rehabilitation of the pavement of the LZ-2 road (airport) and the service road (Deiland)", which contemplates the improvement of the safety of both connections, "given the high traffic that both sections support and their importance for mobility on the island".
This was indicated by the Councilor for Public Works, Alfredo Mendoza, who pointed out that "the current state of the pavement of both roads reflects a great deterioration." "In addition to supporting high traffic, the LZ-2 connects the southern area of the island with the capital and the service road is concentrated in a commercial area, so there is an urgent need to condition both pavements," he added.
Likewise, the mayor has detailed that when executing the actions, "it will be taken into account that the current roads do not have sufficient slope to contribute to an optimal evacuation of rainwater, which helps to avoid incidents in times of storms such as those experienced during the last days".
As complementary works, the existing metal barriers will be replaced, both on the LZ-2 road (airport) and on the service road (Deiland), by others that meet the requirements established in current regulations.
The item allocated to carry out the actions is 597,691 euros, financed 80% with funds from the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN) and the rest by the Island Council, with the execution period of the works being one and a half months from the start of the same.
