The Day Center for elderly people in Arrecife will be managed by the Cabildo of Lanzarote. The council and the Government of the Canary Islands have initiated the procedures to transfer the management of the center to the island organization.
“It is the response to a commitment we made with our elders, who will once again have an environment designed and created to respond to all their needs,” said the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo.
The president of the First Island Institution wanted to publicly thank “the total collaboration and involvement of the Government of the Canary Islands”, through an initiative that “puts all the human and technical resources of the Cabildo of Lanzarote at the disposal of a space conducive to the exchange of anecdotes and experiences that, for sure, will contribute to improving the physical and mental health of our elders.”
In the same vein, the Minister of Social Rights, Isabel Martín, assured that “the Day Center for the Elderly of Arrecife will provide comprehensive and personalized care to the elderly during the daytime period with the aim of improving their autonomy and independence, preventing the effects of loneliness and providing support to their families and caregivers.”
The agreement to be signed by the Autonomous Executive and the Cabildo of Lanzarote has an initial duration of four years and a budget of €271,861.48, charged to an item of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands.
