The Cabildo of Lanzarote, in collaboration with the Landscape and Environment Area, SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote, and the Commerce Area, among other promoting partners, has presented this Monday the second edition of RegenERA Lanzarote, an event that seeks to transform the island into an international benchmark in territorial regeneration, which will be held from December 10 to 19, will bring together farmers, young talents, educators and experts in regenerative tourism with the purpose of promoting dialogue and action to regenerate the island from its essence.

The meeting, which will be held in person from December 10 to 13 in the assembly hall of the Cabildo of Lanzarote with free admission, and will continue online, is organized by BeForGet and plans to bring together more than 800 participants -of which 350 will be international-, and more than 50 speakers.

RegenERA Lanzarote aims to connect all local agents to maximize the resources of the territories, promoting collaboration and the necessary dialogue to address the great challenges of sustainability, in line with the objectives of the European Green Pact.

Samuel Martín, Councilor for Landscape, Environment and Biosphere Reserve of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, stressed during the presentation -in which Aroa Revelo was also present as Councilor for Commerce- that "this project is a proposal for building the future, in which we will share experiences, connect with inspiring initiatives and give visibility to regenerative solutions that bring light to our complex and critical reality." He also stressed the Cabildo's commitment to sustainability and the key role of the island as a historical example of resilience and adaptation, and assured that "the Cabildo will always be at the forefront to achieve great goals, joining efforts and opening the focus to multiple realities."

For his part, Ramón Romero, founder of the BeForGet group, emphasized the transformative nature of the initiative: "Regenerating a territory is a shared path that implies humility and commitment. We want these days to become a growth experience for all attendees, so that locals can create a more resilient and regenerative Lanzarote, and the rest of the participants can take away learning and teachings to apply in their territories."

"We want to generate a dialogue that talks about regenerating the island from its essence, as well as promoting young talent to challenge the rules, and promote the change of Lanzarote to the world, with regenerative tourism, hand in hand with SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote. This project is born with the desire to be an active part of the change and put solutions with impact metrics that ensure that we are on the right track," he concluded.

Thematic axes of the event

During the days of the event three main thematic axes will be addressed:

- Agroecology and maja culture: A space for local farmers and artisans who will share regenerative cultivation practices and cultural knowledge.

- Educational community and young talent: In collaboration with the Biosphere Schools program, innovative solutions will be explored to strengthen local communities.

- Regenerative tourism: Lanzarote will demonstrate how tourism can respect and regenerate the environment through sustainable initiatives.

Among these activities, the online workshop organized by Impact Hub, entitled Introduction to the regenerative practice community, which will take place on Wednesday, December 18 at 4:00 p.m. This workshop, led by Rafa Cobo and Alessandro Battista, experts in regenerative design, seeks to promote a regenerative community through practical and shared learning.

Impact beyond the island

RegenERA Lanzarote is emerging as a meeting designed to rethink the model of territorial development from a participatory, systemic and regenerative perspective. This collaborative space brings together professionals and change agents from different fields committed to territorial regeneration. Like the first edition of 'RegenERA Local', held in 2023 in Santander, it aims to become a unique platform to share experiences, connect with inspiring initiatives and give visibility to regenerative solutions that can be scaled and replicated in other territories.

RegenERA Lanzarote is organized by BeForGet, has Impact Hub and the Cabildo of Lanzarote as promoting partners and with the collaboration of the Chamber of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, the Tourist Federation of Lanzarote, Lanzarote Isla Diferente, the Insular Association of Hotel and Apartment Businessmen of Lanzarote, the FAO -Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations-, the Líneas Romero Foundation, Rural Citizen, Institute for the Future of Education of the Tecnológico de Monterrey, the CIFP Zonzamas and the IES Teguise. Lanzarote, The Different Island.

This project is part of the Impulse Program of the Innovative Entrepreneurial Ecosystem, within the Spain Up Nation strategy financed by the European Union-Next Generation EU and the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan; and supported by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism and EOI.
