The Cabildo of Lanzarote has completed the installation works of new public lighting in the town of Mala, in Haría. From the Corporation they point out that the actions aimed to "satisfy a historical demand of the northern population, on the one hand, and the improvement of the efficiency and energy saving of the system".
For this, the Island Institution allocated a partida of 1,326,811 euros, co-financed by the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN) in 80% and the remaining 20% by own funds of the Cabildo.
The president, María Dolores Corujo, celebrated the conclusion of this project "so important for the people of the town, as well as to continue on the path of promoting sustainability on the Island".
“We have provided innovative elements to the public lighting of the area, with an LED technology that will reduce consumption and with a system that will also reduce light pollution, this being one of the fundamental objectives pursued both from the Cabildo and from the northern City Council”, said the island councilor of Energy, Ariagona González.
From the Cabildo they point out that, after an audit carried out by the Haría City Council itself, it was determined that the public lighting of the town presented "a low level of energy efficiency" and that "a large number of streets have a level of lighting below the recommended value". "That is why the Cabildo has acted to reaffirm its commitment to saving and so that citizens can travel the streets with total comfort and safety during the nights", concluded the councilor.
