The Governing Council of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, held last Monday, November 29, approved the awarding of Subsidies to Cultural Projects corresponding to the call for the year 2021-2022.
According to the Island Corporation, the list of provisional awards was published "last Friday, December 3, in the Edict Board, in the Announcement Board of the Electronic Headquarters of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, as well as on the website of the University Foundation of Las Palmas."
The Corporation details that a total of 75 applications were submitted, which represents "an increase of 33.9% compared to the previous call for subsidies", corresponding to the year 2017, when only "56 projects" were submitted.
Among the 30 admitted projects, "the 100,00 euros allocated to these grants" will be distributed, an amount that the Cabildo assures represents "an increase of 25% compared to the previous call, that of 2017".
The Cabildo of Lanzarote explains that interested parties will now have the Audience Procedure period, for a period of ten business days, to make allegations and submit documents and/or justifications, if they deem it pertinent. This procedure counts from the day following the publication of the list of provisional awards, so the deadline begins to count "from this Tuesday, December 7 and will end next Tuesday, December 21."
The allegations may be submitted electronically at the electronic headquarters of the Corporation, in person at the registry of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, or through the website of the collaborative entity, the University Foundation of Las Palmas.
Likewise, the Cabildo reminds applicants with a "favorable" assessment that, within a period of ten business days from the publication in the Edict Board, "they must submit a written communication stating whether or not they accept the subsidy provisionally awarded", considering that they must justify the amounts fixed in the presented budget, and also taking into account that if the interested party does not submit the aforementioned writing within the aforementioned period, "the subsidy will be understood as accepted."
The Corporation details that the projects may be executed during the year 2022, since the Call for Competitive Cultural Subsidies was called for an execution period of two years, until 2022, "regardless of whether a new call could be made in 2022 itself".
The reason was, in the words of the Culture Councilor of the Corporation, Alberto Aguiar, that "the context of uncertainty in which we live, derived from the pandemic, could make it impossible for cultural activities to develop normally within a period of one calendar year", so they decided to extend the execution period to two years.
