A **cyclist** performs a **dangerous maneuver** while **riding on a road** in **Lanzarote**. In images that have gone viral on social media, the athlete can be seen positioning himself behind a rental vehicle and staying very close to the car for the entire journey. The video shows the athlete crossing the LZ-1, between the Jameos del Agua and Cueva de los Verdes art, culture, and tourism centers and the coastal town of Órzola.

The driver, dressed in a blue jersey, stays for several kilometers behind a Citröen Berlingo van. The practice he is performing is known as drafting, a technique for overtaking that aims to generate greater speed and save energy, thanks to its proximity to the vehicle in front. However, it is dangerous because if the car suddenly brakes, he could have an accident.

Although a driving license is not required to ride a bicycle, cyclists must comply with different traffic regulations, just like other drivers. Among them, they must use the shoulder to their right when cycling and may only leave it during descents, if the surrounding conditions are safe. Athletes who fail to comply with this measure may be fined 200 euros.

Among other measures, cyclists can ride in double file, as close as possible to the right, but in stretches with limited visibility or when forming crowds, they may only ride in single file.
