The Cabildo of Lanzarote has launched a website to offer direct information on the evolution of the coronavirus on the island. "From a geographical point of view, Lanzarote is an island in the middle of the Atlantic, isolated from the rest of the European continent and, therefore, with a connectivity that is restricted almost practically to the airport entrance. Such is the case that Lanzarote presents its own idiosyncrasy from a health point of view and, specifically, with respect to the pandemic caused by Covid-19", they explain in a statement.
For this reason, they say that they have decided to launch lanzarotecovid19.com, through Turismo Lanzarote, "to report promptly on the Coronavirus crisis and how it affects this tourist destination at all times".
The website - made by the company Marmas Comunicación - is an open channel that serves to inform the population of Lanzarote, the Canary Islands, Spain and Europe about the status of current and future coronavirus cases "in a simple and direct way". "In this crisis, citizens who wish to visit the island must be directly informed, for the tranquility of all”, says Ángel Vázquez, Minister of Tourism of Lanzarote.
“Being an island also implies a double effort in communication. The Cabildo wants to ensure that everyone who wants to know that our destination is safe. The objective is to publicize the specific data and the state of the island at all times”, added the president, Dolores Corujo, recalling that the maritime border makes the health situation of Lanzarote "independent".
At lanzarotecovid19.com the user will be able to know the number of total active, imported and local cases, as well as the follow-up of the same. Likewise, the status of the different patients will be reported through daily updates in three languages: Spanish, English and German.
The website aims to be a direct source of information for national and international media, for diplomatic bodies and for the business sector of the island, both accommodation and restaurants, commerce, etc.
