The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Department of Public Works, has put out to tender the rehabilitation of the pavement and improvement of the LZ-30 road, in the section that joins the Farmer's Monument with the town of Masdache, in which it will invest nearly one million euros of its own funds.
"These important works will improve the driving and safety of this road, which is also very busy, as it runs through an area of high landscape value and connects a tourist center such as the Farmer's Monument with La Geria, one of the most unique and economically valuable places on our island," said the president, María Dolores Corujo.
For his part, Jacobo Medina, Minister of Public Works, says that "these works will solve the need to improve the pavement of the road, which currently has ruts in both lanes and cracks as a result of the structural exhaustion of the pavement." In addition, he adds that "there are also quite a few potholes, due to the passage of heavy vehicles on the road."
The solution contemplated in the project consists of the extension of an intermediate layer to regularize the existing pavement and subsequently a wearing course. Likewise, together with the pavement rehabilitation works, improvements will also be made to the signage and beacons of this road.
In this sense, the Cabildo points out that the metal protection barriers located in the section between the Farmer's Monument and the town of Islote are supported by supports that "do not conform to Circular Order 35/2014 on application criteria for vehicle restraint systems."
"These works, which will last approximately two months from the signing of the re-staking act, will also improve the safety of a dangerous curve at Kilometric Point 10+400, which does not have a safety barrier and in which several vehicles have even left the road," explains Medina.
Companies interested in accessing this tender can submit the required documentation until July 28, through the Cabildo de Lanzarote Tender Portal https://licitacion.cabildodelanzarote.com.
