The vice president and councilor of Public Works of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Jacobo Medina, received this Friday morning the workers of the company that, until now, was dedicated to cleaning and tidying the margins of the island's roads, a service tendered by the Cabildo last year and which was awarded to the UTE Márgenes Lanzarote for an amount of 1,463,546.68 euros.
Medina has listened to the demands of these twenty employees, "who are in a complicated situation after the contract with said company has expired."
"The Cabildo of Lanzarote is looking for the best option so that these workers do not run out of employment and salary" and explained that "work has been underway for several weeks on the specifications to put the service of conservation and improvement of the margins of our roads out to tender again, which on the other hand, we consider an essential service in the beautification of our island", he stated.
The vice president of the Cabildo stressed that "in these new specifications the reservation of jobs for these employees will be guaranteed, while improving working conditions and the price of the contract to prevent companies from submitting low bids that cause problems for workers such as those we are experiencing at the moment".
