Unemployment falls in four municipalities of Lanzarote, while it increases in the other three

Unemployment has fallen in Lanzarote by 0.8% in the month of January, which is equivalent to 55 fewer people unemployed on the island. Thus, the total number of unemployed people in Lanzarote is now 6,895, according to data from the Canary Islands Employment Observatory (Obecan). 

Meanwhile, **unemployment increased in the rest of the islands** of the archipelago with the **exception of Gran Canaria,** where it fell by **0.1%** and Tenerife where it remained practically the same as in December of last year. 

In Lanzarote unemployment fell in January more among women (0.9%) than among men (0.6%).

By ages, those under 25 years old registered the biggest drop in unemployment (1.6%), while regarding studies, unemployment fell among those who only have primary studies (1.7%), while it grew in the rest of the groups. 

By municipalities, unemployment fell above all in San Bartolomé (-3.2%), but also in Tías (-1.2%), Yaiza(-1.1%) and Arrecife (-1%). 

Meanwhile, it increased in Tinajo (+6.2%),  Haría (+0.4%) and Teguise (+0.6%)
